How can I support your work?
I have been working in the prevention of gender-based violence and gender and disability equity spaces for nearly a decade, from conferences to curriculums to social media campaigns.
I want to support you to make your work as impactful as possible. My key areas of expertise are listed below.
Capacity Building
I have built the capacity of workforces, sectors and individual organisations in the areas of gender equality, disability and GBV prevention, including designing events, resources, networks and conferences.
I have worked with sports organisations, secondary and tertiary education, health organisations, government, and community groups to build their capacity in challenging sexism and gender equality, and preventing gender-based violence.
Training and Facilitation
I have been working as a trainer in the diversity and inclusion space for eight years, and have designed and delivered packages on topics including:
Gender and disability inclusion
Prevention of gender-based violence
Prevention of violence against women with disabilities
Managing resistance to gender equality
Responding to disclosures in the workplace
Being an Active Bystander
Meaningful Consultation and Co-design
I am passionate about finding ways to ethically and meaningfully embed lived experience and marginalised voices at all stages of our work. Consultation with lived experience or specialist community groups should never be a tick-box exercise, and lived experience advisors and survivor advocates should be valued and compensated for the incredible expertise they bring.
I (privately) think of it as the ‘sit down and shut up’ approach – where mainstream organisations are required to deeply and honestly interrogate how they create spaces for marginalised and lived experience voices in their work, and commit to an ongoing process of improving that practice.
Disability Inclusion
As an able-bodied person, I would never claim to be an expert on disability inclusion. My skills are based around platforming the voices of people with lived experience of disability, and creating avenues for their inputs to be meaningfully embedded into mainstream gender programs and policies.
This means creating spaces for consultation that are accessible and welcoming, and committing adequate resources to the work we are doing.
Resource and Content Creation
I have produced a variety of resources for sector and the wider public, including video suites, web articles, print resources and social media content, and in a variety of accessible formats. Below are samples of some of my work.
